Tomorrows floors are growing now.
As a part of our vision to preserve our future needs of raw material and in the long run our planet we seek cooperation with our suppliers and organizations that help in this direction. One of those is FSC.
The trademark of the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) indicates that the wood used to make the product comes from a forest, which is well managed according to strict environmental, social and economic standards. The forest of origin has been independently inspected and evaluated according to the principles and criteria for forest management agreed and approved by the Forest Stewardship Council. FSC is an international, non-profit association whose membership comprises environmental and social groups and progressive forestry and wood retail companies working in partnership to improve forest management worldwide.
Fall in love at first sight - be convinced at the second.
Compared to solid wood floors, engineered hardwood floors yield up to three times more square meterage of floor covering per tree harvested. Our floors are guaranteed to last 30 years, which means that several generations of old growth forests will mature (from seed to harvest) in the time that it takes to replace one of our floors.
Sustainable Design
Our forest footprint is up to 10 times less than other engineered wood flooring manufacturers. This is because our core structure is constructed of rapidly renewable hardwood, which translates into far less old-growth trees harvested per square metre of flooring that we produce.
We use 2 fast-growing plantation hardwood trees to produce our core material, Poplar Devidiana will grow up to 10 metres tall within a 6-10 year harvest cycle and Eucalyptus Grandis will grow up to 50 metres tall in a 10-20 year harvest cycle. Most engineered wood flooring products are constructed of 100% old-growth trees, which require 30- 60 years per harvest cycle.
Plantation hardwoods are grown on tree farms, not at the expense of natural forest. Many of our plantations were originally developed as government mandated erosion-control programs and contribute to a more stable, enriched habitat and healthier air quality. (link to wood information sheets)
We actively support forestry management and illegal-logging ban initiatives in pursuit of protecting our industry from illegal and unfair business practices at the expense of one of earths most precious resources. We are members of the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) and our factory is certified (certificate# SGS-COC-2901) to produce FSC certified flooring.
